Don't believe everything you read especially when it comes to opening a bank branch inside the IZ. Even if you do read it in a supposed copy of a memo from the CBI.

The CBI Memo Dated 6 Feb 2008

I've been busy as you can see as I have not written anything in several months. Maybe it will all change soon, we shall see.

With all the popularity of the speculation hopes of making it big you would think that you at least have an Arabic translator on the payroll. I see you do not as it is possibly unattainable or maybe too high tech. Which ever the case rest assured the beautiful MK has accurately and professionally translated the CBI Memo dated 6 Feb 2008.

I don’t have it in for Al-Warka Bank nor do I spend much time dwelling on it. It is what it is. When they are doing good well I’ll say so and when they are doing something that is not above board I’ll be sure and mention it.

I believe that an informed investor is a successful investor that is why I had MK translate the CBI Memo. There were a lot of doubts and speculation about what the memo actually said some of you had the main theme but not the particulars. Well, I’m giving you those particulars. Those details you all want to know.

Until next time, when I get a moment maybe I’ll write more. Please feel free to send your comments and or email to americancontractor@gmail.com I read every comment and every email.

Feel free to down load the pdf.

Money: Bet Your Bottom Dinar

This is an old article and fortunately for all of you the url is still good. It is a Newsweek article quoting the Deputy Governor of Iraq's Central Bank stating it's illegal to export the dinar.

According to Ahmed Muhammad, a deputy governor of Iraq's central bank, roughly half the 4.5 trillion new dinars have been removed from domestic circulation, either stashed away at home or smuggled out for sale abroad. Iraqi officials say it's illegal to export the dinar, but it's quoted on exchanges as far afield as Pakistan.

Even if it means removing content from the American Contractor’s Blog and also calling it there own.

Another Country with Currency Restrictions

As everyone is watching Iraq, another country has placed restrictions on foreign currencies. The Iraqi dinar has less restriction it can be converted to any currency meaning fully convertible however, with one caveat it can only be done inside Iraq.

Sudan has a problem with capital flight with the people creating other avenues to remove the foreign currency away from the visibility of the banking sector. The Central Bank of Sudan is cracking down. I am sure Dr. Shabibi of the CBI is taking note.
